Module 4 Activity: My Performed Identity

Objectives

The goal of this assignment is threefold:

Identify and articulate aspects of yourself that you communicate to others.
Analyze how, when, and why you communicate these self-aspects.
Illustrate this process in a creative fashion.

Instructions

This activity contains two parts:

Create a performance of your identity(ies): a creative project that answers the question, why do you perform your identity the way you do, and how?
Write up a 2-3 page discussion of your performance which explains how and why this is a performance of one or more of your selves.

Original Creative Performance

Some example project include but are not limited to the following;

video-recorded interviews
soliloquies/proclamations
songs/raps
podcasts
narrated slidedeck/slideshow/presentation
narrated scrapbooks
digital storyboards
digital collages
storytelling
autoethnographies/autobiographies

Any other sort of creative form of performing your identity will do as well.

Once you have completed the assignment, submit it into the assignment inbox. Use the media link to upload any videos or audio files. Make sure to use MP4, MP3, WMV or other universally accepted file types.

Written Essay Requirement

Along with the performance, include a two- to three-page discussion of your performance, including which identity(ies) it reveals, and how it does so. This written essay should meet the standard writing requirements of the class, including citations and references from the module as well as any outside source materials. See the 0.4 Useful Resources page for more details.

This performance MUST BE ORIGINAL work.
A written description must accompany the actual product or performance.
Be sure to cite and reference all module or external content, in proper format.
Reflect and think about how the concepts and theories in this module related to your life and experiences.
Think about these assignments as application exercises reflecting the module materials.
