Infants and toddlers go through tremendous physical growth during the first three years. From the increases in weight and height that support their motor development to the increases in head circumference that represent their rapid brain growth. Figure \(\PageIndex{1}\) depicts the physical changes within the first three months and Figure \(\PageIndex{2}\) depicts the physical changes from 12 to 36 months. This section will explain the weight, length/height and head circumference growth of infants and toddlers, examining important patterns and differences.
