Preferences are how we prefer to function in our lives. Imagine you’re at a birthday party serving ice cream, and both chocolate and vanilla are available. Since you prefer chocolate, you would ask for that flavor when you get to the person dishing up the ice cream. If the chocolate ran out before you got to the front of the line, however, you’d accept vanilla, and you’d probably still enjoy eating that vanilla ice cream but just not as much as if you had received chocolate. We’re going to turn our attention now to how our personality preferences shape our career decisions.
