The information contained in this handbook is the result of the work of many faculty over the years.  They have supported the next generations of human services professionals through their time and talents.  I thank all of them for the contributions they have given freely.

I would also like to thank HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, for the support to create and publish this OER.  This support was in the form of faculty expertise, funding, and the initiative that made it all happen.  Students will benefit from the access to resources while avoiding the high costs of textbooks.

Finally, I would like to acknowledge the thousands of students who persevere every day through adversity to make it to the practicum experience.  Your communities will be impacted with your kindness and caring for those who face life’s challenges as you go forth and serve.  Your hope, idealism, hard work, and selflessness are appreciated!

    Warm Regards,

    Wendy D. Bratina, Ed.D.
