    Supporting, Not Replacing, the Human Touch

    Feedback and assessment are at the heart of student learning—but they’re also some of the most time-consuming responsibilities instructors carry. AI can assist by helping generate draft rubrics, summarize patterns in student work, and offer formative feedback phrased in clear, accessible ways.

    Importantly, this section is not about automating grading. Instead, it explores how AI can support thoughtful, instructor-led assessment practices that are transparent, student-centered, and manageable at scale.

    You’ll learn how to:

    • Draft clear, student-friendly rubric language
    • Use AI to generate formative feedback that is supportive and actionable
    • Identify themes or patterns across student writing (e.g., reflections, discussion posts, surveys)
    • Respect student privacy and apply ethical boundaries in the feedback process

    Used responsibly, AI becomes a feedback assistant—helping you provide timely responses, surface common learning needs, and ensure students feel seen and supported in their learning process.
