    In the years it took to create this workbook, a number of people have been instrumental.

    Thank you to the best listeners of my life: My husband, Ed, and my mother, who listened to my euphoric and despairing moments over years of creating of this book.

    I'm deeply indebted to the invaluable support from my friend and colleague, Stephanie Swanberg, a librarian at Michigan School of Psychology. It is due to long, involved discussions with her, that this book is structured as it is, and many of the activities are pulled directly from her experience working with graduate students. This book truly would not be anywhere near as useful, pragmatic, and understandable if it had not been for her expertise.     Dani Kallis, art therapist, dreamed about this book with me when it was still just an ephemeral thought. It is due to her brilliant creativity and brainstorming that the book includes the check-in points, particularly for emotions and positionality.
