Unfortunately, dissociative and somatic symptom disorders can be difficult to diagnose, and often, even more difficult to treat. Though researchers have found various treatments to help improve quality of life, both psychotherapeutic interventions, as well as an eclectic approach that could include alternative medicine such as physical or occupational therapy. One’s theoretical framework (i.e., their way of thinking about a disorder) will depend on the type of treatment they may prescribe (or wish to receive). We will delve more into theoretical framework as well so you have a good understanding of the different ways of thinking about these mental health disorders.
