Standardized assessment tools can be helpful for screening, diagnosing, and monitoring developmental progress. However, professionals must be mindful of their limitations and ensure they are used appropriately and are best used in combination with authentic assessment tools. Understanding specificity, sensitivity, validity, and reliability as test selection criteria enhances their effectiveness in educational and clinical settings.
