Statement of AI Use & Transparency

This Open Educational Resource (OER) was compiled with the work of multiple authors and edited by the editor Rachel Ridnor to provide accessible, zero-cost learning materials for sociology students learning research methods. Generative AI tools were integrated into the editorial workflow strictly to support clarity, style, currency, and structural coherence.

    Role of Generative AI

The core substantive content, methodological frameworks, case studies, and pedagogical design were entirely authored and curated by the course instructor. Generative AI served in a supportive editorial and research capacity:

    • Editorial & Tone Refinement: Polishing drafts to ensure a consistent, accessible, and inclusive tone appropriate for undergraduate community college students.

    • Literature & Citation Discovery: Assisting in identifying updated academic studies, current empirical research examples, and recent methodology publications to refresh course readings.

    • Copyediting & Structuring: Reformatting raw drafts, improving readability, and checking for clarity across modules.

    Instructor Authority & Verification

All AI-suggested edits and research references were independently reviewed, evaluated, and verified by the compiler/editor.
