In this textbook, we have explored a variety of interview types, components and skills. You have learned how to develop questions, participate in persuasive and informational interviews as well as employment and appraisal interviews. We have discussed listening, nonverbal cues and ways to minimize filler words in interview settings. Finally, we have examined the prevalence of virtual interviews and provided techniques for mastering them.
Whether you are interviewing a celebrity, being interviewed for a job, or simply gathering information about a topic or person, all interviewing should be conducted with empathy, tolerance and consideration of others. It is often more important to maintain a personal or professional relationship and conduct ourselves in a flexible manner than to achieve an interview goal at any cost.
It is our intention that this textbook be one more tool in your interviewing toolbox. Interviewing is an art that requires ongoing exploration and practice. We hope you will continue your learning by practicing new skills and perfecting existing ones. Let your curiosity be your guide!
