    Miachelle Andrade

    Miachelle is currently an adjunct faculty member in Early Childhood Studies at Rio Hondo Community College, as well as Cal Poly University in Pomona.  Miachelle received her BA in Child Development at Concordia University in Oregon, and her MA in Early Childhood Studies at Cal State Los Angeles.  She is currently enrolled in a Doctoral program in Educational Leadership at Cal Poly Pomona.

    Owning and operating a preschool for over 28 years (90 families), has given her experiences she shares with her students in the classroom.  Combining her experiences, with what she has learned on her educational journey is what she desires to weave into this text.  Miachelle married her high school sweetheart (going on 40 years), has children and grandchildren, claims to be a thrill seeker (roller coasters), loves hiking in the mountains (Sedona and Zion are big favorites), and has a continued passion in outdoor education, in which has been the focus in her current research and travels.

    Shanthi Tharuvai

    Shanthi is at present an adjunct faculty for the Child Development Department at Rio Hondo College, El Camino College and at Cerritos College.  She completed her Bachelors in Home Science from Madurai Kamaraj University in India, and her MA in Early childhood Educations from California State University, Long Beach.  Shanthi's work experience of 16 years as a Teaching Assistant, Preschool Teacher, Education Coordinator, Director of Preschool Programs adds to her education as she passionately shares her knowledge and experience with aspiring ECE professionals in her students.

    Having served the field supporting children and their families in various roles helps Shanthi in mentoring her students that are beginning their career working with young children.  Shanthi is grateful to all he mentors and colleagues throughout her career for being an inspirations.  She is thankful to her husband of 30 years and her two children for their continued unconditional support.
