While the general public has high regard for storytimes, these programs are understudied in the library science field (Dowd, 1997; Young, Sarroub, & Babchuk, 2019). More information about caregivers’ perceptions and priorities related to storytime can help you tailor your storytimes to better serve your community members (Rankin & Brock, 2015). Additionally, when caregivers support children’s literacy, children make better progress in learning (Rankin & Brock, 2015).
