    The mentoring theories explored in this chapter reveal that effective leadership is not only about directing others but also about cultivating growth through intentional relationships. Each model offers a unique lens, whether it’s the hands-on guidance of cognitive apprenticeship, the transformative possibilities of critical or transformational mentoring, or the emotional resonance of relational cultural theory. These approaches help build ethical, collaborative, and equity-focused early childhood educators. As we move into Chapter 10, we will examine how these mentorship practices intersect with broader systems of change. Understanding change theories will further equip leaders to navigate complex educational landscapes, advocate for systemic transformation, and lead with clarity and purpose in times of uncertainty.
