If your research identified absences, create art/work (poetry, film, art, essays, etc.) that reimagines inclusion. The goal in this multimodal component is to uncover, critique, and provide new work imagining possibilities of addressing historic erasures within movements towards liberation and providing new, more expansive narratives about the labor towards liberation from an intersectional lens.
- Consider a system that currently withholds liberation, as defined in this chapter, from Black bodies and create an AfroFuturist piece of art (poetry, music, art, film, play, literature, etc.) that revisions the past and/or speculates about a future of freedom within this system. Your piece should provide a counternarrative, engage with radical imagination, and labor to create a new, more expansive reality for Black bodies.
- Frantz Fanon details a “zone of non/being” that creates possibilities for departures and fugitivity that labors towards abolition. Using the “zone of non/being” as inspiration, create a work of art (poetry, film, multimedia art, installation, play, fiction) that exploits the “zone of non/being” for Black bodies and produces a liberating fugitivity.
