    The California Preschool Teaching Permit is not free…

    But there are some good news for you!

    In the prior chapter, you learned that the teaching permits are issued by the California Department of Education. It s the same agency that issues the Teaching Credentials for Public School Teaching ( Teaching Credential K-12th grade).

    The permits are not free, however, being a college student will allow you obtain your California Preschool Teaching Credential without paying for the fees.

    There is one important agency, that is your friend 🙂 It is called Child Development Training Consortium (CDTC) (Links to an external site.).As a college student you can qualify to have your permit teaching fees and fingerprinting fees paid by the CDTC. This agency, (CDTC) will send your permit teaching application to the Commission on Teaching Credentialing. (Yes, it is the same place that will issue Teaching Credentials AND Teaching Permits).

    $$ Support for your educational expenses: ECE Students Career Education Program $$

    The CDTC has the ECE Students Career Education program which provides support for specific educational expenses to students attending California Community Colleges.

    Students pursuing a career in early childhood or child development, MAY be eligible to apply for the new Educational Support Grant. All eligibility criteria included in the application. To learn more and apply for the ECE Career Education Program stipend
