    About This Remix

    This remix is a product of the work done at LibreFest 2021 in July 2021. It aligns with ENGL/LING 200, Introduction to Linguistics: A Survey at Cañada College. These courses are articulated with the University of California at Davis and at Irvine, and eligible for IGETC 4A, as well as UC-B.

    This remix includes work from a few sources. The bulk of the work is from Essentials of Linguistics by Catherine Anderson. I have also included a large number of my lectures on a number of topics, especially adding chapters on sociolinguistics, historical linguistics, language acquisition, and cognitive linguistics. I've included some optional lectures and discussions by other linguists who post their videos on YouTube, adding richness to this text. In this way, there are 10 chapters, covering the material that is typically taught in an introductory linguistics course at 2-year and 4-year universities in the United States.
