    Learning Outcomes
    • Explore possible life and career options
    • Recognize how laws, public policies, College policies and professional standards affect students’ career goals
    • Identify personality preferences and interests and match those to educational and career paths.

    Step 1: Research Three Careers/Occupations

Based on the careers you identified in Part 1, research at least three occupations. Use the online research sources listed in section 5.1 of the OER to conduct this research. Your research should include the following elements for each of the three occupations:

    • Specific Occupational Title you researched
    • Description of the work:  list at least five typical work tasks performed in this occupation
    • Education, training and other qualifications needed (include also certifications and licensure requirements)
    • Job outlook:  is the occupation growing or declining and by how much?
    • Salary:  entry-level and median, on a national or state basis
    • Related occupations
    • Opportunities for advancement
    • Laws, policies affecting these careers
    • List at least two more pieces of additional information you need to evaluate whether your career priorities are met in this occupation

You can submit the research in an outline, essay or table format. Make sure to include a Works Cited or Reference page.

Step 2: Compare the Occupations Using Your Career Priorities

List the Career Priorities you identified earlier in Part 1 in the left column. Based on your career research for each occupation, rate how well each occupation meets the Career Priorities using a rating scale from 0-10 (0 – not at all and 10 – meets it 100%). List any relevant information that will help you remember why you rated the career priority the way you did.
