You will be faced with ethical challenges throughout your experience at the agency where you are getting your practicum, and moving forward as you go through a career in helping others. Ethics is a broad area and encompasses many issues such as the way one relates to clients, employers, and colleagues. You will discuss various topics in your seminar such as the following: confidentiality, setting and keeping boundaries, reporting abuse, neglect, and exploitation, protecting clients and others from harm, and how to make good decisions using ethical decision-making models, among many other topics. These are the difficult conversations to have, and are necessary to build your ethical competence. Again, ask questions!
