Why Global Inequality Isn’t Just About Money (But Also About Power)
These two chapters are rightly sandwiched between economics and politics as inequality is truly intersectional. When we talk about global inequality, it’s tempting to focus just on income gaps—who’s rich, who’s poor, who can afford avocado toast. But zoom out a little, and you’ll see money is only half the story. Behind every economic stat is a web of political decisions, trade deals, power plays, and historical baggage. Global inequality lives at the messy intersection of economic systems (who gets what, and how) and political structures (who decides, and for whom). Whether it's a country stuck in debt traps or a factory worker underpaid because of lax labor laws, it's never just about markets—it's also about who’s writing the rules of the game. Keep this in mind as we move through inequality, health disparities, and politics.
