Libretexts Launchpad application services and libraries

This chapter is designed to present a brief introduction to the applications, services, & libraries available in the LibreVerse. Subsequent chapters will dive deeper into each resource.

    • 1.1: Academy Online
This page details the LibreTexts Academy Online, a professional development platform designed to enhance instructional innovation for educators and institutions. It offers various training services, including free and paid webinars, mentoring, and courses, aimed at improving the use of LibreTexts textbooks and tools. The emphasis is on refining teaching practices and curriculum development to assist educators in crafting effective instructional materials.
    • 1.2: ADAPT
This page describes ADAPT, an online homework and assessment system by LibreTexts that enables instructors to create and manage courses and assignments by utilizing assessment questions. It integrates with LibreTexts textbooks and various LMSs, easing grading and feedback. ADAPT functions as a centralized platform for delivering OER, and users can access further resources via Insight – ADAPT and the LibreTexts YouTube Channel.
    • 1.3: Commons
This page describes The Commons as a resource hub for educators to access, organize, and contribute Open Educational Resources (OER). It functions within the LibreVerse ecosystem, enabling browsing by categories like books and authors. Users can view, download, and remix resources, while creators are encouraged to share their own OER for collective use.
    • 1.4: Conductor
This page introduces the Conductor, a vital component of the LibreVerse that functions as a project management workspace for organizing Open Educational Resources (OER) like textbooks. It supports team collaboration by allowing the creation of projects, assignment of roles, and management of timelines and workflows. Features include discussion boards, peer reviews, and accessibility checks, with access restricted to verified instructor accounts.
    • 1.5: Connections
This page describes Connections, a community forum for educators to discuss open education, ask questions, and collaborate on projects like open textbooks. Organized by topics, it supports asynchronous communication through posts and replies. Verified Instructors can contribute to discussions, offering guidance, while additional resources help users navigate the platform.
    • 1.6: Forge
This page describes Forge, an assignment platform within the LibreVerse that enhances open pedagogy by allowing instructors to create collaborative, renewable assignments with public outputs. It provides a drafting environment for peer review and structured assessment, while analytics help track student progress throughout the drafting process. Currently in development, Forge is seeking user feedback for improvements and offers support via guides.
    • 1.7: Jupyter
This page discusses Jupyter, an open-source platform that combines live code, equations, visualizations, and text, primarily used in data science. It allows real-time code execution in Python, R, and Julia through notebook files that facilitate interactive analysis and reproducible research. Important components of the Jupyter ecosystem include Jupyter Notebook, JupyterLab, and JupyterHub, with additional resources available at https://jupyter.libretexts.org.
    • 1.8: Store
This page discusses the LibreTexts Store, which offers print copies of open textbooks for those who prefer physical formats, along with print-on-demand options and access codes for educational platforms. It also provides professional development courses through Academy@LibreTexts and sells merchandise. Importantly, all LibreTexts textbooks are available for free online, supporting accessible education.
    • 1.9: Studio
This page covers Studio, a feature of LibreVerse for creating and managing H5P assessments. It highlights the platform's resource exploration capabilities by topic, subject, collection, or keyword, and recommends checking the LibreTexts YouTube Channel for further insights on using Studio.
    • 1.10: Support Center
This page details the Support Center as the main resource for LibreTexts, providing help with navigation, content creation, authoring tools, course management, and technical issues. Accessible through a question mark icon or the Launchpad, the dashboard facilitates submitting help tickets, harvest requests, and publishing requests, making it easy for users to obtain assistance and resources.
    • 1.11: Libraries
This page describes LibreTexts Libraries as curated collections of openly licensed educational resources across various subjects. They promote the discovery, adoption, adaptation, and creation of Open Educational Resources (OER), fostering educator collaboration and supporting accessibility. Overall, these Libraries enhance teaching and learning by providing customizable and shareable resources within an open academic framework.
