The machine-graded assessments in this course are organized by module and are aligned to specific learning outcomes. Waymaker courses assess students in three locations: Show What You Know (ungraded pretests at the beginning of each module), Self-Checks (short, ungraded practice tests), and end-of-module quizzes (graded).

Authorized faculty may edit and delete quiz questions and also add new ones using the quiz editing tool inside their Waymaker course(s). To learn more about editing the assessments in Waymaker, visit the  Waymaker Faculty User Guide AFTER the course package has been imported to your learning management system (Blackboard, Canvas, etc.).

The Show What You Know and Self-Check questions are also available as a separate file that can be downloaded and imported into the assessment tool in your LMS. This format and extra step are needed ONLY if you want to make your own customized quiz, midterm, or final exam that combines quiz questions from multiple modules.

There are 15 question banks with a total of 699 multiple choice questions.

We provide quiz banks as QTI files, a standard format that allows you to import questions, build, and customize quizzes in most learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.). These files cannot be opened outside of an LMS.

According to Lumen company policy, we do not provide quizzes in written (e.g. MS Word) form, in order to preserve the academic integrity of our quiz banks on behalf of everyone using our materials. We adopted this policy after observing how easy it is for quiz banks in written formats to find their way onto websites that promote academic cheating.

Once you’ve downloaded the file, visit the Quiz Imports page and click through to the directions for your LMS.

## Business Communications for Managers Pacing

Lumen Learning’s Business Communications for Managers course features fifteen modules. Our goal is to provide the infrastructure to support your learning objectives while providing flexibility to customize your course using your institutional resources.

All of the modules are independent so you can choose which modules work best for your institution’s learning objectives. Simply un-publish what you do not want in your course using your learning management system.

If you need to modify the pace and cover the material more quickly, the following modules work well together:

• Module 1: Communicating in Business and Module 2: Writing in Business
• Module 7: Public Speaking and Module 8: Developing and Delivering Business Presentations
• Module 9: Communicating Through Technology and Module 10: Social Media
• Module 11: Communicating Different Messages and Module 12: Collaboration In And Across Teams
• Module 14: Finding a Job and Module 15: Recruiting and Selecting New Employees

We recommend NOT doubling up Module 13: Social Diversity in the Workplace because it has a lot more material to cover. Students will need additional time for mastery, completion, and reflection with the guidance of the instructor and fellow students.

If you need to extend the course, you could spend two weeks on Module 11: Communicating Different Messages in order to give students time to reflect on writing team-building messages and critical messages. For this module, many of our partners link library materials using their learning management system to supplement discussion.
