    All sociological paradigms examine social institutions, or patterns of beliefs and behaviors focused on meeting social needs, such as government, education, family, healthcare, religion, and the economy. Because it’s a term you’ll see so often throughout the course, it’s important to understand exactly what sociologists mean when they talk about social institutions.
