Some of the concepts date back to the earliest days of the discipline, and they have been updated, expanded, and--at times--refuted. It's important to understand these older and simpler models because they still supply the terms we use today, and they demonstrate the ongoing and "living" nature of academic research. Developing our understanding of this field is never once-and-done!
If you feel you already know most of this, by all means dive into the quizzes to check your comprehension and mastery, and do look this textbook's index. This is an excellent way of looking at concepts that recur is this book, often explored more in depth as we progress through the chapters. Jumping ahead is sometimes the best way to quickly get a fuller understanding of a given idea.
