    Process leadership involves reflection. We can reflect on how our organization is doing at reaching its goals. We can reflect on how we are doing in our relationships with one another. We can reflect on how we are communicating and coordinating with one another. And we can reflect on ourselves and our own growth as leaders. 

    This multi-part activity asks you to develop a survey and give it to people who know you as a leader, and for you to reflect on what you learned in the process. 

    STEP 1: Prepare your Survey

    Go to the  Leadership Inventory Template

    Make a copy to edit. To make a copy go to the three dots at the top right of the form. Hit make copy. That copy is now yours to edit. Rename it with your name. In the upper right hand corner hit Publish. 

    Then: Add at least two questions to the Additional Questions section.  In the Additional Questions Section, hit the plus sign on the right to add a question. Write your questions and chose if it should be short answer, multiple choice, etc. Then hist the plus sign again to add another question. 

    Then turn it in to your instructor: To turn in, please turn in a link to your inventory with two questions added. Make sure it is accessible by making your instructor a collaborator. To do that, go to the upper right hand corner three dots, then chose add collaborators, then add your instructor’s email as a collaborator.

    Step 2: Get People to Take your Survey

    Once your inventor has been approved by your instructor, get the link for the survey by going to the 3 dots at the top right of the inventory. Click "Add collaborators." Within the "add collaborators" view you will see "copy responder link." Click that to get the link that you will then use to fill out the survey and you will send that same link to the people who will be evaluating you. 

    Use that link to take the survey yourself first.

    Then send your survey out to at least 10 people who know you as a leader.

    If you have not done much leadership, that could be friends or family. Bug those people until you get at least 8 people answering. 

    Keep bothering people until you have at least 8 responses in addition to your own. You can see your responses by going to your original Inventory and in the white section at the top it says "Questions, Responses, Settings." Go to responses and choose 'view in sheets." The sheet that opens will include your own entry. Yours will be the first one if you took it before sending it out.   

    Step 3: Assess Your Results

    First, go to your own inventory link. In the top white section you will see "Questions, Responses, Settings." Go to responses and choose "view in sheets." The sheet that opens will include your own entry. Yours will be the first one if you took it before sending it out.   

    Take the average of your responses for each question for all responses except your own. and put that average below the responses. 

    To do this, 1. Highlight the responses you are trying to capture. Then on the right side of the task bar at the top of the page you will see three dots. Click  that. Then click the ∑ symbol. Under that symbol click Average. That will give you an average of your respondents' scores. for that questions. Do that for all of the questions. Then average all of your self scores for a section and average all of your respondents' scores for that section. Do that for all six sections.   

    Now look at your results and try to make meaning from it. What do the differences between your self-score and the scores of other say to you. Pick a few questions where the results are interesting. Do the same for each of the leadership styles. 

    Write one paragraph for each of the 6 leadership styles. For each paragraph, compare and contrast your assessment of yourself in relation to those who assessed you and your leadership abilities. Refer to a few specific questions nd to the section as a whole.  For the summary analysis, write a summary of what you learned in this process.
