    "Contemporary Sociology of Marriage and Family" offers a sociological introduction to family life, with particular attention to the United States. The book begins with foundational concepts in the sociology of the family, including definitions of marriage and family, theoretical perspectives, and the diversity of family forms. It then uses an intersectional framework to examine how gender, race, social class, and sexuality shape family experiences, opportunities, identities, and inequalities. Later chapters explore attraction, love, relationship formation, and marriage before turning to childfree lives, pathways to parenthood, and parenting. The textbook concludes with an examination of family violence, divorce, remarriage, and family change.
