Welcome to Fall 2022! I'm excited to share that a new feature is being integrated into our text beginning this term. Throughout the text, I will be adding what I am calling "Concept Checks" to provide you with an opportunity to confirm your familiarity with and/or understanding of the material you have read. These "Concept Checks" are in the form of activities that are entirely optional - but intended to give you a chance to test yourself. You can do them after you have read a page and you can use them when you are studying. I'll also be asking you for your feedback on these activities - and for your ideas regarding how I can help you learn. As this text is both free and customizable, I can make changes as we identify that they are needed. I'm looking forward to working with you this term. Welcome to the 2022-2023 academic year!

    Sincerely,
    Dr. Pilati
