Why planning and preparing are important
- To be clear about what your students need in order to make progress
- To decide how you are going to teach in a way that students will understand
- To look back on how well the lesson went and what your students have learned in order to plan for the future
Plan a lesson
Here are some questions to help guide you in planning a lesson.
- What do you want the students to learn?
- How you will introduce that learning?
- What students will have to do and why?
Prepare a lesson
Lessons should include these three main parts.
1 – Introduction
2 – The lesson
3 – Assessment
Review Your Lesson
After teaching, take time to review your lesson.
- Be okay with changing or varying the activities
- Consider having a follow-up session with students who need extra support
- Respond to what you discover about your students' learning
- Consider what you can do to make the lesson better
