Lifespan Development introduces students to developmental psychology, the scientific study of how and why people change across the lifespan. Drawing on foundational theories and research, this text explores physical, cognitive, and socioemotional development from infancy through older adulthood. Topics include thinking, learning, identity development, relationships, emotional growth, and aging. The text also examines the many biological, psychological, social, and cultural factors that shape human development over time. Throughout the book, diverse perspectives and lived experiences are included to help students feel represented, engaged, and connected to the study of human development.
