    Introduction

Emotions are central to how we experience the world, communicate with others, and navigate everyday challenges. This chapter explores the nature of emotions and the biological, cognitive, social, and cultural factors that shape emotional experiences and expression. It also examines the role of emotions in relationships, strategies for coping with difficult emotions, and the importance of emotional awareness and social support in promoting psychological well-being and healthy interpersonal connections.

Clear plastic carton holding twelve brown eggs, front six are painted with simple black emotional facial expressions on the shells; a green salt and pepper shaker set appears blurred in the background.
