    This text examines the influences of culture on human behavior, emotion and mental processes, including the examination of the diversity on human thought, feelings, and behavior, and the underlying reasons for such diversity.  Culture is defined as the values, attitudes, behaviors, and beliefs that are learned and passed down from one generation to another. This text takes an interdisciplinary social science approach to understanding culture, with an emphasis on psychology.  Culture is viewed broadly, including ethnicity and race, economic class, gender, sexual orientation, nationality and religion.
