Dr. Dino Bozonelos, Victor Valley College, Political Science: Dino Bozonelos is a Professor of Political Science and Chair of the Department of Social Sciences at Victor Valley College. He earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside. His research interests revolve around global issues, including geopolitics, religious tourism and pilgrimage, religion and politics, comparative political economy and pedagogy in political science. He has published in several journals, including Politics & Religion, the International Journal of Religious Tourism and Pilgrimage, the Journal of Political Science Education, and in several edited volumes. He has coauthored two other open-source textbooks, Introduction to Political Science Research Methods and Introduction to Comparative Government and Politics, and co-edited The Politics of Religious Tourism.
Charlotte Lee
Dr. Charlotte Lee, Berkeley City College, Social Sciences: Charlotte Lee teaches topics in Comparative Politics, International Relations, and Global Studies. With support from the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges, she was a contributing author of Open Educational Resources (OER) textbooks in comparative politics and political science research methods. She has published original research in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes and is the author of Training the Party: Adaptation and Elite Training in Reform-era China (Cambridge University Press, 2015). As a 2022-23 Mellon/ACLS Community College Fellow, she created OER for teaching contemporary China and the China Dream. She received her Ph.D. in Political Science from Stanford University, where she was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow. Prior to that, she was a US Peace Corps Volunteer (assigned to Romania).
Austen Thelen
Dr. Austen Thelen is a professor of Geography and Global Studies at Imperial Valley College in Imperial, CA, where he also serves as the chair of the Behavioral and Social Science department. Dr. Thelen holds a Ph. D. in Geography from the University of Kansas, where he became a regional specialist, focusing on issues of place and identity in the Former Soviet Union. For the past ten years, Dr. Thelen has focused on teaching Geography and Global Studies at the community college level, emphasizing the vital importance of geography literacy in his courses. Additionally, he has worked to teach and develop curricula centered on Political, Economic, Urban, and Regional Geography at the university level.
Lauren Blanchard
Lauren Blanchard serves as chair of the Political Science, Global Studies, and Law, Public Policy and Society programs at Monterey Peninsula College, where she has been a member of the faculty since 2010. She completed her Masters degree in Political Science at the University of Massachusetts- Amherst, where her focus was the ways that democratic societies seek to mediate the human experience of need.
Steven Cauchon
Dr. Steven Paul Cauchon holds a Ph.D.in Political Science from UC Riverside and is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Imperial Valley College. Dr. Cauchon specializes in International Relations and Political Theory, with a focus on environmental justice and transnational social movements. His research examines the inequities associated with the international movement of waste and the different processes by which transnational environmental non-governmental organizations (TENGOs) support frontline communities pursuing justice. In addition to his chapter, “Openness to Critical Reflection: Gandhi Beyond Gadamer,” in Inheriting Gadamer, he has coauthored one other open-source textbook, Introduction to Political Science Research Methods.
Masahiro Omae
Dr. Masahiro Omae, San Diego City College, Political Science: Dr. Omae is a Dean for the School of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Consumer and Family Studies at San Diego City College. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside. Additionally, Dr. Omae served as a staff researcher for the Children´s Service Division at Riverside County Department of Public Social Services where he designed and evaluated various services and programs to improve child welfare.
Elizabeth Walker
Dr. Elizabeth A. Walker, College of the Desert, Political Science and Global Studies Professor. For two decades, Dr. Walker has worked within California 2-year and 4-year institutions as an English and Political Science professor. With a history of working within politics and government, she has a specialty in intersectionality of American political behavior, African American studies, and the history of education. She has published a number of articles based on women in higher education, the history of education, and political behavior. She is currently working on two projects: Politics in Higher Education: A Case Study of Pepperdine University 1968-1974; The Divine Nine (Black Sororities and Fraternities) and Politics.
Travis Ritt
Dr. Travis Ritt, Palomar College, History: Travis Ritt is a Professor of History at Palomar College. He holds a Ph.D. in History from Florida State University. His research interests revolve around cross-cultural communication in post-conflict zones. Specializing in the medieval world and in interactions between Muslim and Christian communities, he has applied his research to the broader global environment. He teaches courses on World history, European history, Middle Eastern history, and Global Studies.
