    Persuasive Strategies

    Ethos, Pathos, Logos

There are a lot of tools that speakers have in their toolboxes to persuade people. Some of the most famous of these tools are Aristotle's three forms of rhetorical proof: ethos, pathos, and logos. We will explore each of these theories of persuasion in turn. In this chapter, we will start with ethos, or the credibility of the speaker. We will explore three dimensions of ethos, including competence, trustworthiness, and dynamism/goodwill.
