5.6: Environmental Design

( \newcommand{\kernel}{\mathrm{null}\,}\)

Rich learning environments with a variety of activities enhance young children’s learning and development. In an environment in which children have the opportunity to make observations, ask questions, plan investigations, gather and interpret information, and communicate findings and ideas (CDE 2012b, 53), they explore concepts in domains such as science, math, and history–social science. Dance, music, and drama not only introduce children to the arts and allow them to explore creative processes, they also provide opportunities for children to learn to regulate their behavior and take the perspective of another person.[1]
