- Welcome! This course examines religious and spiritual practices from a cross-cultural and comparative perspective. We will investigate the key concepts of this course—magic, witchcraft, and religion. Anthropological themes of this course include difference, ethnography, power, language, ritual, symbolism, mythology, race, class, gender, identity, and postmodernism. You will have fun conducting fieldwork with a spiritual or religious community, people, or person of your choosing.
